Opinion:

What is the most frequent cause of dry eye amongst patients you have treated?

I have found that chronic inflammation of the eyelids is the condition most associated with dry eyes.

What advice do you most frequently find yourself giving to dry eye patients?

I recommend nutritional supplements and lid compresses, when appropriate, to all dry eye patients.

Do you have a dry eye "hot button" - for example, is there a condition you feel is often overlooked or misdiagnosed, or a treatment you feel is sometimes used inappropriately?

I like the term "dysfunctional tear film" instead of dry eye.

What makes you exceptionally well qualified to help dry eye patients?

I have had fellowship training and 20 years experience in treating ocular surface disorders.
